Underworld Arms - Staccato P Compensator

Underworld Arms Basilisk Compensator Review for Staccato P

As a competitive shooter, controlling recoil and minimizing muzzle flip are crucial for improving accuracy and maintaining speed during stage runs. After testing the Underworld Arms Basilisk Compensator on my Staccato P, I can confidently say this frame-mounted compensator is a game-changer for anyone looking to take their shooting to the next level, or those who want to experience how the Staccato XC performs while saving money.

Performance and Recoil Control
The Basilisk Compensator is engineered with two large expansion chambers that channel gas flow through two prominent top ports and four angled side ports. This innovative design dramatically reduces muzzle flip and felt recoil, giving you greater control over the firearm. Whether you’re running fast drills or shooting under pressure, the Basilisk Compensator helps you recover quicker and stay on target. This is especially important in competitions, where follow-up shots are critical.

For those familiar with the Underworld Arms Cyclops Compensator, you’ll notice a similar reduction in recoil, but the Basilisk goes one step further with its dual top ports and side ports, delivering even better control and reduced recoil, making it an excellent choice for competition shooters.

Design and Build Quality
The Basilisk Compensator is constructed from 7075-T6 aluminum, a high-quality, durable material known for its strength and lightweight properties. Weighing in at just 3.0oz, this compensator won’t make your Staccato P feel front-heavy but still provides impressive recoil management. The overall length is 4.7", with an added length to the firearm of 1.42". The compensator features a multi-slot lower rail, providing flexibility for various setups. If you prefer a more streamlined look, Underworld Arms also offers a single-slot version.

Ease of Installation
One of the best aspects of the Basilisk Compensator is how easy it is to install. Underworld Arms includes everything you need for a seamless installation, including a locking block, screws, Blue Vibratite 121 thread locker, and an Allen key. The compensator is designed for unthreaded barrels, so no special modifications or recoil spring tuning are necessary. For those with threaded barrels, a threaded version will be available soon, ensuring there’s an option for every Staccato P owner.

Legal and Compatibility Considerations
The Basilisk Compensator is fully 50-state legal, making it perfect for shooters across the U.S. However, keep in mind that this compensator does increase the dimensions of your firearm, so you’ll need a dedicated holster to accommodate the extra length. Underworld Arms offers their own holsters specifically designed for this compensator, and it also fits well in popular holsters like the Tier 1 MSP and Blackhawk Omnivore Light Bearing.

Color Options
The Basilisk Compensator is available in matte black anodized or cerakoted DLC grey, giving you the option to match your Staccato P’s aesthetic. The DLC grey is especially appealing for those who want a clean, uniform look that complements their firearm’s finish.
