SnapPoint - Snap Caps
Where to Buy
I’ve been testing out some snap caps from SnapPoint, and here’s my honest feedback for anyone looking to upgrade their dry fire training.
✅ What I Love:
These snap caps are made from real brass and actual projectiles, providing a realistic feel during dry fire sessions, reloads, and malfunction drills.
Each one is hand-pressed with care in Colorado, USA, by a small local business.
The weight is very close to live ammo (around 115gr), which adds a lot of realism to training. It’s especially helpful for weighted dry fire practice — a huge advantage when building speed and muscle memory.
Shipping was fast, and their customer service is top-tier. They’re open to feedback and always looking to improve. 💯
🔧 Room for Improvement:
The blue projectiles are visually great, but many competitive shooters (myself included) use blue projectiles for live reloading. A different color would help avoid confusion between dummy rounds and live ammo. (Good news — I spoke with the owner, and they mentioned they're working on orange projectiles in 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr, which will make training even safer and easier.)
The primer pocket is currently empty (no pad or soft plastic insert), which could raise concerns for some firearms — repeated dry firing may cause wear on the firing pin or spring over time. That said, SnapPoint recommends filling the pocket with silicone caulk as a simple DIY fix to help protect your firearm during extended practice.
💬 Final Thoughts:
Overall, SnapPoint makes a fantastic product for dry fire training — realistic, reliable, and backed by a team that genuinely cares about quality.
Highly recommended — I’ll be keeping a set in my range bag at all times! 🔫🇺🇸
